Im trying to work out what to get dh for chridtmas and overheard him talking to bil about ipads tablets etc. So i discovered dh wants a tablet, great I'll get him an iPad mini (he wants it pocket sized) but then he says he wants a tidy camera on it so definitely not an
iPad then as the camera on it is rubbish. So which tablet has a good camera? His phone is a samsung galaxy and the camera is amazing so does it follow that the same is true of the samsung tablets? And which one should I get budget is up to approx £250. Any help from from someone who knows about this stuff would be greatly appreciated.

You won't get a tablet with a decent camera for £250, sorry to say!

Most tablet cameras are pretty basic, especially the smaller 7" tablets and not that great, you have to get the really high end tablets if you want a decent camera.

For £250 you'd be able to get a decent 7" tablet OR a mid-range camera, nothing like an SLR, but a good bridge camera is certainly accessible.

When I say good camera I'm not taking about slr quality, thinking about a good digital camera quality. He's really happy with the camera on his galaxy 3 phone so he would be happy with tablet that has a similar standard camera - if one exists

No that's what I mean - tablet cameras are nowhere near the quality of phone cameras.

A phone standfard camera in a tablet doesn't really exist I don't think

I see, I just assumed that one of them might have a halfway decent camera - but apparently not Sad

I think I'd better have a rethink Hmm

TBH a good camera would be a bit of a waste in a tablet anyway because it's so hard to hold it up and frame your shots properly. Really the front cameras tend to be more useful for skype etc.

Why does he want an amazing camera in his tablet? I'm a wedding photographer and see people regularly who take their ipads to weddings to take photos.....seriously!?!?! Don't be that person!

To be fair the camera on the ipad mini is pretty good and about as good as they get for tablets at the moment.

He doesn't want an amazing camera, but he wants to use it on site visits, he'll snap something he needs to remember eg a particular machine and add notes and descriptions special instructions etc.

Oh, I'm sure the iPad camera would be perfectly fine for that! :)
