Does anyone else have trouble uploading photos onto Windows 8 PC?

I'm weeping with frustration. I use my phone to take photos and, while the laptop will recognise the phone when I connect them with a USB cable, it simply refuses to acknowledge that there are any photos to grab from it. It used to be so simple on my ancient old laptop. just click and drag but with W8 I am stuck with these completely counter-intuitive tiles. Is it me or the laptop?

can you see any files on the phone when it's connected to the laptop? my phone has a couple of different usb connection options and sometimes when I plug it in I can see the phone but not any of the files. There's an option on the phone to change the usb connection type and if I do that then all the files show up and I can just drag and drop - I do this on the desktop side of win8, not in the metro interface.

Thanks Easy. I eventually found a way I could do it by going into FileExplorer rather than using the fecking useless tile apps which just kept showing me the phone's properties rather than its contents. I hate W8 - I still haven't found a way of editing the photos once I've got them on the computer so its going to be a long afternoon in front of the Boots kiosk fiddling with them on that.

Did I mention that I hate W8?

how much editing do the photos need? when you click on the photos tile, select a picture to open it, then right click the mouse, and there is an 'edit' option at the bottom of the screen which gives you crop, rotate and edit options, and within edit there are some quick fix presets which will fix most issues, and some default filters you can apply.
There's also a free version of Photoshop in the store, it's called Photoshop Express and it will do pretty much everything you need it to.

I really don't hate W8, but I moved over from Vista which was fairly vile, and I had a Windows phone before so I was used to the tiles, so I have found it fairly easy to get to grips with.

I just want to crop, get rid of the occasional red eye, that sort of thing. Mine definitely doesn't allow me to edit, I've just tried your instructions an it only allows me to delete or create a slideshow. But I've now downloaded an app that lets me play around with them a bit.

Thanks for all your help.
