Ios7 - is it worth updating?

I have an iPad, and I am happy with the operating system I currently use (I assume this is ios6). Ds3, who has an iPhone has updated to ios7 and swears by it.

Is there anything on ios7, that isn't on ios6, that would make it worth me updating? And if I don't, is my iPad going to stop working as well?

It uses A LOT more battery as far as I can tell so far

If I really can't stand it, can I go back to the previous iOS?

I really like it. It took a little while to get used to it but now it's sorted.

There's a thread about it, with best ways to save your battery and other stuff. Apparently, you can make a list and set it to remind you when you get to the shop's location - how very modern!
