Fellow geeks can you help me? Malware question.

I have Malwarebytes -anti malware pro installed on my computer and for the last 12 hours it has been doing it's job very well by stopping and quarantining the AdwareBPprotect as a virus. It started out that I was getting this three or four times and hour but now it is scooping it up almost every minute. Where is it coming from and so I just leave the malware protection to do it's job or is there something else I can do.

Plus what do I do with my teen geek who has downloaded lots of 'steam' stuff and minecraft doo hickeys which I am sure are the source of all the viruses I have been scrubbing off my computer recently (hence the upgraded malware).

Try installing windows own security from the website, said to be one of the best for this kind of malware and having two minecraft nuts. it seems to work for me.

Have a read here,it seems somebody has probably installed the Ad-Aware browsing protection toolbar,thats why you are getting constant security warnings.

Stuff off of Steam is pretty safe. It's a legitimate, commercial site with a very good reputation. Random downloads of add-ons for Minecraft can be a lot dodgier. Minecraft itself is fine.

Brilliant, I should have known the true geeks only come out at night! I removed the adwareBP.exe using programme remove and another download that DH had put on so he could stream films that may or may not be released outside the cinema in this country which can sometimes have viruses bundled with it. Then I ran a full malware scan which removed the adware and another virus. So far so good.

I will have a look at the windows/microsoft ccrider, I know we had it before so I don't know where it's gone now. That's the problem with living in a house of computer geeks, everyone thinks they can update the laptop best!

Good to know about Steam Snorbs, I don't know anything about it so it's permanent presence on the taskbar has been bothering me! I have a love/hate relationship with minecraft, I love the technical aspects but it is a real time stealer. Roll on next week and camping.
