Climbing rose recommendations?

I'd like to plant some roses in the garden, mainly climbing roses on the boudaries and a couple of ramblers to go up some old trees.
I do have some ideas, but am open to suggestions.
Any recommendations?

Would like to include some which are scented, some with good foliage and some with good hips. Prefer simple flowers, nothing too blousy...

There is far too much choice on Peter Beales website....
Thanks.

The previosu owner of my house planted roses all round the boundaries.

I've been very impressed by 'Mermaid', big floppy pale yellow flowers, all through the year on a south-facing house wall, but the thorns are absolutely vicious - it would do well if you wanted someone to keep people out! It's got a simple, traditional feel to it.

But definitely my favourite has been a wonderful climber with small, double deep red flowers. Stupidly, I can't remember the name, except that it's descriptive of the flowers rather than being a person's name - something like 'flore pleno elegantissima' or something of the sort. Just gorgeous, and doing well on a north-facing wall.

Thanks GrendelsMum, Mermaid looks lovely and a good thorny rose woudl be useful.
Cant find the other one you mentioned, but will browse my Peter Beales catalogue later...
