Now I have a fireplace I have a lot of wood ash.
Can I use it in the garden?
Can I add it to the compost bin?

I have also heard of people using coffee grounds and tea bags, what on earth for?

They can all be composted.

I put the ash around my blueberries as they flourish when it is used. Same with coffee grounds. They can be quite harsh though so only use them on Ericaceous plants.

The victorians used to clean their brass and silver with wood ash as it buffs them up really nicely.

I dig wood ash into the garden, or add it to my compost bin (especially if everything is a bit soggy)
