We had a line of leylandii removed and a fence put up instead. Now have a lovely line of weeds....so I would like advice on some nice plants/bushes I can put in that grow quite fast and are quite thisty (way of keeping the weeds at bay)......any ideas and links gratefully received

Oh and low maintenance too....

Box? Low maintenance can be artfully cut if so required? With some lavender or something? How tall do you want them to be?

Fences are 6 foot so anythng up to that is fine - but not higher

Peonies are good this time a year but you would need to get them in quick

What about a Red Robin? I have a Choicia (not the correct sp!) which is pretty fast growing and trouble free, with nice acid green growth at this time of year.

ooh, and I've just remembered that when we had our leylandii removed and fence put up, I planted a Ceanothus (again sp?) which has nice blue flowers and a once yearly haircut, and a honeysuckle to climb up the fence.
