Lawn or AstroTurf?

I'm not sure which to put down... Or even how to lay it. I'll attach a pic but want it from the fence up to the little pink house.

Could someone advise me please on what I'll need to do? And which you recommend?

Well if you are putting down either you would need a sand foundation to attach it to. We have had turf laid on concrete but it has to be broken up and soil/sand put down. Then ripped it up and laid Astro turf last year. Expensive but worth it for low maintenance pet friendly garden.

If you wanted to turf that area, you'd have to get a drill hammer and break up all the concrete and take it away. Then you'd dig over the soil and add loads of organic matter, tamp it down, add sand and then turf. By the looks of things it's very shaded, so you'd need a shade tolerant turf, which isn't very tough and doesn't like being walked or played on much. In short, it is a huge job and I'm not sure the end result would be worth it. It pains me to say it, but astroturf might work better.

I think with astroturf, you lay over a sand base. I know a lot of people are putting it down on concrete. I slightly worry about fungus and mould underneath it in those cases, but I don't know enough about artificial lawn to really be able to judge.
