Small Tree Suggestions

I want something with a spreading habit rather than tall and skinny. Needs to be able to withstand wind, exposed south coast location. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'll be first to mention Amelanchier. I love mine . I assume it should be fine - I am in Yorkshire, so cold and breezy

Another major fan of the amelanchier here too - I've got Lemarkii and Canadensis and they are both so pretty

Just double check you are getting the tree, and not the shrub :)

I love amelanchier too, you could also consider a flowering cherry with a spreading form, lovely spring colour. Magnolia stellata too but they are so slow growing...

Having said that and failed to register before I hit post, if you are on the coast you could do worse than looking at some NZ natives - pittosporum holds up very well in coastal situations, and there's loads of lovely small trees that will withstand anything you throw at them.
