Can anyone help? I have walked past it a few times and it has been flowering all summer. Need to get some shrubs for my borders - am a first timer and barely know a daisy from a daffodil so sorry if it is something v obvious. Thanks All

Some sort of rose I think, but I expect someone will come with more precise details before too long.

Looks like rosehip - the rosehips (berries) make lush jelly!

Cistus creticus (rock rose)?

Thanks very much! It looks quite a lot like the Rock rose and the rosehip. Pretty hard to tell. Here is a close up of flowers in case it helps. I guess I would know shortly if it was rosehip as it would get berries soonish? None there as yet.

Rosa Rugosa. With the hips.

Very very prickly though! I mean lethal. But beautiful. It's the sort of bush that goes batshit if you don't cut it back every year, and in fact, even if you do Smile

Brilliant! Thanks! I have a lot of empty borders which need filling and thought I might grow it up against my back wall. The one I have seen is so pretty and just keeps flowering.

I think a rugosa's leaves are a bit paler and more crinkly than the rose in your pics, it looks more like a flower carpet type rose to me. I have one that spreads just like the one in your pic.
