I've never kept so much as a cactus alive.
However my front garden had a barrel planter which had some perennial bulbs in which came up each year without me having to do anything to them. It has rotted and fallen apart and I have just replaced it with a shiny new oak barrel.
I want to put some bulbs in it, in a lasagne. I've been looking at the videos for bulb lasagnes but I'm getting very confused.
Is there a collection of bulbs that flower at different times of the year and are also perennial?
I've seen bulb collections for "6 months" of flowers but it isn't clear whether they are suitable to plant in a lasagne or whether they need to be spaced out and it isn't clear whether they last more than 1 year.
The barrel planter is fairly large (about 70cm diameter) and I want to try to make it so that the different layers flower over a fairly long period of time.
What I want is something that is low effort, that I'm less likely to be able to kill.
Am I asking the impossible?
