Squires in Teddington (or is it Twickenham I never know) is very good.

I usually go out to Surrey to a nursery if I need a lot as it saves a fortune, how many do you need?

Also Homebase are good for cheapo bedding plants

oh also Adrian Hall are good, there are various of them but the Putney one closest to you closed down. There is one in East Sheen and a biggie in Feltham

here's the squires (in twickenham) that cd was talking about

there's a place in Ham but I can't remember the name - it's more pricer than squires though

There's one in Fulham Palace Road, next to Bishop's Park, quite near the river/Putney Bridge, where all the profits go to a charity. Can't remember its name, sorry! But the staff are very nice and helpful, plus it's a great location, can nip into the park for a play afterwards.

Goodness, I thought this was the kind of thread that'd languish and die. Thanks!

Adrian Hall in East Sheen is MUCH cheaper than the one in Fulham Palace Road

It's on the Upper Richmond road coming from Putney on the left just past Roehampton before you get into East Sheen central

But are any of them any good for you - I'd like to know we came up trumps - alternatively we will continue making random suggestions...

franch - there a really good nursery called Neals which is right opposite Wandsworth Prison (take trinity rd towards Wandsworth, turn left into Magdalene Rd, then first left and Neals is along there on the left). Good plant selection, everything I have bought from there has thrived, and the prices are very reasonable. Presumably their delightful view of the lags doing time means their rent is low and so prices can be competitive.

Ah - excellent wilbur, thanks - that's closer to home.

Hope to see you again soon

ah ha Franch, sorry for the hijack but I have just been looking on recommended tradepersons re a gardener. You mentioned last year that you knew of a team of two ladies who would come and do maintenance. Do you still have their details or have you found another good gardener. I am in SW london also. TIA

ooo cd dh and I have just been for an indulgent lunch at Petersham today - our first visit. it's gorgeous isn't it? next time my mum comes I'm going to tell her we're going to the garden centre and might grab a bite to eat at the cafe. and enjoy the look on her face. she'll love it.

dizzydo, our gardeners turned out to be complete psychos! And we're not the only people to have trouble with them! Very weird, sorry, couldn't inflict them on you - we're doing it all ourselves now

Might venture to Petersham one day hatwoman
