What can I do with this pile of lovely Yorkshire stone?

Just that really.

We've been in our house a couple of years and, over the course of the last few months we've unearthed several large pieces of Yorkshire stone.

They're about the size you get in a dry stone wall. Seeing as several of our neighbours have similar in their garden, we think that there might have been a wall running across the bottom of our gardens. This wall may have been dismantled when our houses were build in the 1930s, as there was a farm on this site before then.

Anyhoo - currently, these stones (about 6 - 8 in total and some are fairly big) are simply stacked up in the corner of our garden. I'd love to do something with them, but am a bit stumped.

You've come up with the goods before, you gardening gurus you. Please help me again!

Make a rockery... choose/create a slope in your garden, and intersperse rocks with small hardy plants (personally, if you're IN Yorkshire, I'd go for heathers).

Yes make a rockery. Fill it with saxifragas and sedums. Lovely.

Yes, I am in Yorkshire . Ok - any tips for a total novice?

Our garden faces south and, in general, the soil is very good although drainage is a little poor in places.

Any advice you can give, would be most welcome (again!).

If your drainage is poor then dig in a bag of a agricultural grit to your new rockery.
