Forgive me for intruding, not sure this is the right place to post, but just wanted to canvass opinion...

I am applying for a job where one of the person specification criteria is

"A clear view and understanding of the impact of ?Every Child Matters? and the ?Five Outcomes? and how they will impact on all aspects of Looked after Children"

Can anybody give me some information? I am a teacher and understand Every Child Matters from an educational perspective, but I was really hoping for a social worker's/carer's knowledge...

Any help much appreciated

Every Child matters and the resulting Five outcomes are very important for looked after children. All training for example is geared to meet outcomes and carers have to prove how they are meeting the outcomes for each child in regular supervision meetings.
The reviewing prosess is also based round the five outcomes. I think knowing a bit about the history would be good too, green papers and social care failings. A social worker would be able to explain better and in more detail but just wanted to give you a brief idea.
Also pots of money are tied to outcomes for LAC so carers can access things like computers under enjoy and acheive for example.
Good luck with the job.
