Fostering

Extra bedroom

Are there any agencies that will take on a foster carer without an extra bedroom?
I have a 3 bed house, with 2 children, 10 yo girl and 3 yo boy.

I would love to foster babies, but the agencies that I have spoken to will not let me apply as I have no spare room.

Tbh in the current climate I think most agencies/La's will not take you without a spare room, and also I know of many places that are not recruiting for baby carers, they want people to be open to any age. The La we foster for is currently recruiting for teens and sibling groups only as there is an over supply of people who only want/can take babies and young children.
I really hope you find someone who will take you onboard, but I do feel you may struggle.
Good Luck, and let us know how you get on.

I think the problem is that you usually can't say exactly how long the placement will last. A child needs to be in their own room at age 2. A social worker would be reluctant to place a child knowing that they may need to be moved as they would need their own room.

As a Registered Manager of an IFA, we would not take someone without a spare room.

I don't know about agencies but in my LA babies have to have their own room at 6 months, so you need a spare bedroom
