How often do they go back home at 18?

Have name changed for this and I'll be really careful not to give away any details, but I'm just curious how common it is that children from very neglectful or abusive families choose to go and live back with their parents when they turn 18?

And if a child in your care states repeatedly that they are definitely going home on their 18th birthday do you try to talk them out of it, or do you just expect it and support them?

At 18 they are considered adults. Sad as it is you just have to let them get on with it. You then have to decide if you are going to be there to pick up the pieces. As it is fairly certain that they will be let down.
There is very little you can do with an 18yr old as they ' know everything'
Just make sure you protect yourself. Xxx

Had a sibling group of 4 from family of 9 kids, all have been in care and all those old enough have moved back with mum [severe neglect] and all the girls old enough have had children and are on 'at risk register'.
Seems history repeats itself.

THINK It is a question of continuity of support and advice before contact and after, from our experience most have not had a very good experience
but only have too pick up the phone, knowing they have help and a bed too
come home too, also continual support help with housing , education ect
