How do I strain my crab apple jelly?

I have 4kg of crab apples simmering as we speak. There are so many! Recipe says 'strain', and I have some muslin, but how on earth do I elevate that weight of apples overnight? Am I being stupid? Help me!

My mum had a high stool that she turned upside down and tied each corner of the muslin to a leg. It was a sight I used to see regularly as my mum made crab apple jelly every year. Like this:

AMAZING. Your mum is obviously a genius level talent. Wondering if tying to my stock pot handles might give me enough elevation... Or hanging from the step ladder? Is this really how everyone makes it?

Do you have a step ladder, workmate or two really sturdy dining room chairs? Then you need a jelly bag, muslin or a good quality (high thread count) pillowcase and lots of string (don't forget the bowl).
When our old kitchen stool broke DH sourced new ones from Germany. They may not be trendy but they are practical.

I'm sure my mother used to rig something up between a couple of kitchen chairs.

I love crab apple jelly!

So. I have a large colander that sits nicely on top of a saucepan and I lay the muslin in that and spoon the mush in. i leave it spooning more in each time the drains until usually by night-time, it is all in there with a fair proportion that has drained through. Then I tie the two opposite ends of the muslin together, move the saucepan to underneath my cupboard handles which are D shaped [looking sideways]. I put a wooden spoon through one D, then the two loops of the muslin and then through the second D and hang it like that overnight.

You are all WIZARDS. I now feel equipped to tackle this task. Pillow case = inspired, given the volume I'm dealing with. Easier than sewing up a muslin bag. Thanks!

Jelly making accomplished, with aid of a trusty stepladder and carabiner. And I popped some ginger in the last batch. Crab apple and ginger jelly is now my new favourite thing...

Well done. It is so satisfying to make yummy food.

Quince chutney here, unfortunately DD is away at Uni and unavailable to help peel the awkward buggers.
