Quails eggs with a cumin salt dip.

Boil the eggs up to a couple of days before, peel once cool, store in fridge.
Mix ground cumin with some salt flakes (i.e. so the salt is just coloured). Serve the eggs (on cocktail sticks) around a heap of the salt dip.

If you go to the BBC website, check out the 'Eat Well for Less' episode with the Goff Family as they are shown how to make their own canapes. One was chicken tikka skewers, another was baby potatoes wrapped in bacon and baked, the other a couple of recipes using smoked salmon trimmings. You can fastforward to relevant parts of programme.

Boil new potatoes until they're just done, take the out of the water and flatten them on a baking sheet sprayed with frylite. Spray tops with frylite, sprinkle on herbs, spices, or plain old salt and pepper.

Or dust with parmesan.

Bake in the oven until they go slightly crispy. Serve with a mix of dips.

Can't go wrong with some classic cheese straws and/or anchovy straws. You could also jazz up the cheese ones with pesto, paprika or poppy/sesame seeds.

Really quick and easy to prefer using ready-made puff pastry and make for quick an elegant nibble with a glass (or two!) of vino Wine
