Mouldy pesto...

DH cooked tea tonight for himself & DS (14 months), pasta, with chicken, veg and pesto. I just had a look at the pesto jar (which was opened about 10 days ago but was in the fridge), and there is white fluffy mould up the sides. Now a bit worried that they are going to get sick, especially DS, which is never nice and especially worse for the fact that we fly on holiday in 36hrs. Has anyone eaten mouldy pesto and lived to tell the tale?!

I've eatrn pesto with the mould scraped off and lived to tell the tale if that helps. The mould was probably just up the sides of the jar, the main bit of sauce in the bottom was probably ok.

Me. My sister regularly does this and I unfortunately found out after she had fed me! Enjoy your hols!

Thank you, Google brought up some scary stories about botulism in fresh pesto, which alarmed me a bit. That's very reassuring, hopefully they will be fine then!

It's just oil, nuts and leaves - nothing nasty

I just scrape the mould off, no probs so far!

Mine goes like that, I just scrape the mouldy bit out and use the rest, no ill effects and I've been doing it for years. I don't tell the DCs though.

Should be OK. If you go through it slowly, top it up with olive oil to seal it, then it won't go mouldy.
