Only because we had barely anything left in the fridge (waiting for tesco ATM!)

Grilled halloumi, avocado, celery and French dressing in a toasted pitta.

So yummy I had 2 Blush

Come and tell me some suggestions for other sandwiches (especially with pitta, bagels etc as I am so bored with normal bread) so I can regret not ordering their ingredients today and put them on next week's list. :)

You had me until I got to celery, bluergh Grin

My favourite is a lightly toasted plain bagel, extra mature white cheddar, caramelised red onion and rocket. Absolutely amazing. On anything, not just bagels!

I've been having bagels for breakfast all week, alternating between banana and peanut butter and cream cheese drizzled with strawberry conserve, nom nom!

That does not appeal to me at all.

My current fav is chocolate spread, peanut butter and butter on white

I am definitely annoyed I didn't order bagels Envy - my previous favourite was cream cheese, sweet chilli sauce and rocket leaves.

I don't think I'd eat a bagel with a sweet topping though. It just seems wrong. Blush

nutella and peanut butter is amazing (also in a milkshake!) but NO NO NO you can't have butter with chocolate spread, euuwwwww. DH used to have them together on toast. He is now aware that getting butter in the nutella jar is a divorceable offence :o

Try it, thank us later Grin bagels can taste quite sweet anyway so it definitely works. Gutted I've just had a normal fecking ham salad sandwich for lunch, what a waste Envy

Toasted pitta, feta, red onion, baby spinach leaves, lemon juice

Toasted pitta, cheese, baby spinach or rocket, beetroot

Roasted peppers and red onions, grated cheese - mix together so the hot vegetables melt the cheese a bit, roll into a wrap with salad leaves and a bit of chilli sauce

That sounds delicious, I love halloumi, and avocado. My favourite sandwich is omelette on white buttered bread, preferably with lots of cheese in!

A single egg omelette, made in a big pan so it's very thin. Slide it out onto a seeded wrap (I keep them in the freezer, so defrost in micro first) scatter with some halved cheery tomatoes and then slather - and I mean slather - in sweet chilli sauce. Roll up tight then eat.

Ooh thanks for more ideas. I've never heard of an omelette sandwich.

Remus. Beetroot - raw or, er, whatever the slimy version is? (Pickled?)

I had lunch in an animal park today and the coronation chicken was pants. Is there anything more disappointing than a rubbish sandwich?

I like Brie cranberry sauce and apple. But I am allergic to raw apple. It seems so unfair!

You have to have banana with choc pread and peanut butter. Poor man's banoffee.

Best sandwich for me. Brown bread, ham, beetroot, raw onion, gherkin, mayo and jalapeno chillis. Gawjus. And a packet of prawn coctail crisps. Best eaten over the sink dur to beetroot mess.

Possibly my favourite ever is cheese and coleslaw, on a fresh baguette or nice granary bread. Yum yum yum.

Warm wholemeal pitta, carefully opened up, loads of hummus smeared around, a selection of smallish pieces of roasted veg, layered with cubes of feta, drizzled generously in hot chilli sauce.

Would happily eat one twice a day, every day.

Omelette and cucumber sarnie on brown bread with proper butter, made when the omelette is still slightly warm, is gorgeous.

Beetroot = the pickled stuff or (even better) the Waitrose chilli marinated stuff.

Sesame baguette, brie or camembert, watercress with black grapes on the side is pretty damn good too.

Cottage cheese (full fat non if your low fat shite) tinned sweetcorn, tomato and sliced beetroot in pita or thickly sliced pittta. Yum, yum, yum. Also works well with baked pots.

Bre and sun dried toms toasted.

Oh yes Remus Brie and black grapes is amazing (must order that in next shop). Black grapes go really well with Wensleydale/Caerphilly too.

Merly I am now :o at the vision of a MNer standing over the sink with beetroot juice everywhere. Slightly reminiscent of Dracula. Wink

tigerlily that is very unfair you can't eat raw apple. I'd never realised people could be allergic to apple at all (in the sense that it's not commonly heard of like nuts etc) until fairly recently as a friend told me she is, although in her case it's something in the skin. She can eat them peeled.

Three years ago I had no fruit allergies at all but now I can't eat apple, pear, cherries, figs, plums ... Anything that grows on a tree. Plus randomly carrots. It is better if they're peeled but apparently it gets worse with exposure so I try and limit it. It's so annoying as fruit is so healthy and I love it! I do eat them cooked though. So far, no itchy throat with that!
