Do you brown your chicken or put it straight in the slo cooker?

Title says it all really! I am far too lazy to cook chicken in the slo cooker if it has to be cooked first. Is putting it in raw a total no no?

I hope not - I've been doing a full chicken in the crock pot for years, and will go home to one tonight.

Definitely not! I just pop it in with a little bit of stock and that's that. Sometimes I put a halved lemon or orange inside just to keep it moist (if I have one lurking in the fridge) but not sure you can really go wrong with slow cooker chicken!

I don't brown it.

I do put a couple of 'straps' of foil under it so I can get it out in one piece though.

I don't bother with stock - might sprinkle some dried mixed herbs.

Nah. Not chicken. I do with beef and lamb because I like to de-glaze the pan, it really makes a difference to the end result. But not chicken.
