Realised i used plain flour instead of self-raising!

They look fine, they are cooling at the moment...what will be wrong with them?? They are supposed to be fairy cakes

I would've have thought that they wouldn;t have risen properly during the cooking process... so it's odd that they look fine!

Did you use baking powder or anything?

I think that the self raising flour has the raising agent in the flour to make them rise. Not 100% sure.

Couldn't wait for them to coo, had to try and they are fine (much to my surprise), a little heavy but the children don't seem to mindSmile

years and years ago (like 200 ish years ago lol) i dont think that had baking powder (correct me if im wrong).... but i remember those national trust properties and cant remember seeing baking powder on the shelves Wink

eggs are also a natural raising agent, (tho not as powerful as baking powder by anymeans) so i guess if youve wisked it loads youve beaten lots of air in and made truley proper PERFECT cakes Grin

perhaps next time you should use SR flour and eneter them into a competition! you seem to have the knack!
