she will eat vegetable based dishes but only a couple of spoonfuls of meat dishes. how easy is it to prepare veggie dishes (and actually get dp to prepare them as well?!) she loves garlic bread but although she used to love spag bol, won't hardly touch it now. recipe ideas gratefully received!

Add lentils or kidney beans instead of meat.

thanks moono.
is she old enough to eat kidney beans though? i thought she had to be older. there's so much conflicting advice about what you can give weaners and what you can't, that i get muddled sometimes!

do you know of any good veggie cookbooks?

I got some good ones just from the cheepy bookshops - you know the ones in shopping malls that sell all the beckhams and blah blahs?

It's so easy to cook veggie. Lentil veggie (thick) soups is a fav with DS - chuck in a finely chopped onion, leek, carrot, lentils (about a mesh siv full) veggie stock (or chicken stock if you must) and water (you can always add more later - for this age the thicker the better Smile and defo no sauteying!) and hey presto - half a hour later delish soup/broth!!

Erm...I dunno I buy mine in Tescos Grin

I find the nicest is Kallo's organic vegeatble stock cubes - but that's just me. I've gotten them in Holland and Barrett too.

Oh, actually get some parsley too (iron), the dried stuff is fine and just chuck it in with everything else - onion granules are a good tip too but make sure you don't mix it up with onion salt. The secret ingredient is just a smidgen of old fashioned white pepper. You can add dumplings if your feeling very adventurous (ready made mix from the Co-op)

stock is very easy to make but time consuming - just boil up a load of veggies - a carrot, leek, etc with some herbs for about an hour then strain it off and - hey presto - you have stock. Or you can buy Kallo low salt stock cubes and dissolve one in boiling water and - hey presto - stock again (in about one sixtieth of the time)Smile

BTW speaking from bitter experience (i.e. I have a 4 year old who eats nothing) I would persevere with the dishes you do anyway unless you actually want to go veggie.
Good luck Grin

Oh Fransmum. I don't know if your being facetious or not (and I might even deserve it with my previous PMT comment) but here's a big {{{hug}}} in good faith! Smile

Why have you started a new thread about this though DG? I am really confused..

Sorry, I am getting very confused now with Fransmum posting on Dexersgirls's thread and Dextersgirl posting a new thread about her offensive BF - I said I was confused, sorry. Still {{{}}} though FM>
