just made a big pot of broccoli and worcestershire sauce soup and it is too salty.

As the title says Grin how do I sort it out? Can it be sorted out or do I have to chuck a huge pot of soup away?

Pop in a peeled uncooked potato. It should absorb the excess salt. It might help to chop the potato up into inch cubes that you can whip out once it's done its job.

Thanks. Do I have to be simmering the soup while I do that?

Only it's done now and off the heat.

raw potato works a bit, but has never done that much for my soups when over salty sadly. Can only think to add more water/broccoli!

Yes, you need to cook the potato in the soup.

I add milk to counteract the effect of saltiness (and salt counteracts bitterness, btw).

What I want to knw is what counteracts sweetness?

Put few raw potatoes in the soup and boil for a little while. The potatoes apparently soak up the salt. According to my Nanny. Who knows Everything.
