anyone any healthy snack ideas?

My dd (5) hardly eats any tea, often because she's too tired once she gets to it. Also she has some feeding problems because of fine motor difficulties (mild cerebral palsy) causing cutlery problems and she finds chewing hard. so I think sometimes she thinks its more trouble than its worth. Mealtimes are turning into a bit of a battlefield what with her spitting things out and not even starting to eat things so I'm past the point of being able to do any Tanya Byron-inspired happy mealtime malarky because I'm usually just ready to throw her out the window. I've tried not giving her anything else and she just, well, doesn't eat anything at all. She's not mentally affected by the disability, she's just, well, very stubborn.

She's coming home from school absolutely wasted and we've talked to her teacher who suggested an afternoon snack. Any suggestions? She's gone off raisins; during the day she has cereal bars, bananas, bits of cheese, cartons of smoothies, sandwiches, a pear or something, but I'm running out of ideas and I do want it to be substantial, healthy, and easy to eat. Since she won't probably eat much else a lot of the time... she doesn't drink a lot either.

anyone weigh in with anything, I don't care. Right now I'd quite happily just put her on a drip and put my feet up.

does she like breadsticks? You could give her those with some things to dip into.... soft cheese, houmous, tomato salsa (without the chillis!)
or pitta bread strips in the same way.

I bought a bag of berries from asda, they are in the dried fruit section and have allsorts in them and keep for ages. my ds thinks that they are sweeties. There are cherries, cranberries, giant sultanas and currants and they are gorgeous. Asda do all different ones for about £1.10.
Chopped strawberries in a whole fat yoghurt or kiwi.
Mashed banana, get her to mash it up herself with a fork in a big bowl.
Angel delight made with full fat milk,
Jelly.
Will have a think to come up with other ideas.Smile

humzingers? What about yoghurt coated raisins (Asda do them, mine don't see link between those and other raisins), cherry tomatoes, pepper sticks (as in sweet not scotch bonnet! Wink), pineapple chunks / dried pineapple

Asda, tesco and Holland and Barrett- visit each and you'll come away laden.

How about a justlump of cheese. as it is fatty it will fill her up for longer than a cereal bar?

Oat cakes, bagels, cheese scones (lovely to make yourself), sunflower seeds if she is ok with chewing them, homemade smoothies made with bananas, milk etc., apple crisps or salt free crisps?

Parmsan crisps - my 6yr old dd loves these
Get some plain tortilla wraps, cut shapes out eg hearts, stars etc with small pastry cutters. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and bake in oven for 10-15mins until crisp, they are lovely :)

Another way with tortilla wraps is spread with humous add diced cucumber and carrot then drizzle with runny honey. Roll up and cut into small portions. Yum

My little one loves marmite rice cakes, yoghurt covered raisins, dried apple rings, vegetable biscuits, wholewheat muffins (if you toast them very lightly they are much easier to eat than toast), different cheeses (I let her choose a different type of cheese each week at the supermarket). I'm going to try the parmesan crisps myself! Smile
