ok my idea of simple may not be everyones...

toasted walnut bread with cream cheese, smoked trout and parsley/caper salsa

filo cups with smoked salmon and roasted peppers

[MarsyChristmas]

mozzarella/cherry tomato balls
salami on mayo toast, cut into shapes
caramelised onion tartlets
blinis with smoked salmon, creme fraiche, caviar
melba toast with pate
peppadews stuffed with cream cheese
vol au vent cases with taramasalata or any dip
crostini with pesto or any paste
roasted cherry tomatoes

like the walnut bread/smoked trout combo and roasted toms - perhaps on bread too?
