That humzingers survey has had me thinking...

How fussy is your child? I couldn't answer some of the questions because at the moment DS really will eat anything that comes his way. Including all fruit and veb, raw red onions and peppers. He loves olives and to snack on cucumber. This has got to change right? Or are humzingers just being over negative to make them feel their product is necessary and validated?

Oh thank god for that!! I was really worried about the parents who have lost sleep over their children not eating fruit!!!

I struggled to come up with the disliked fruit and veg at the end... did a very feeble "pear" eventually - she does eat it, but she's not keen.

How old is your DS? DD is 2 1/2 and eating all the fruit and veg possible - she even swipes tomatoes from the fridge!

He's only 1 atm, which is why I am well aware that it all might change! I am a very fussy eater so have been keen on gettin DS to try pretty much anything and he has been so good so far. The only (Jarred!) food he didn't like was spaghetti hoops and sausages, in fact hes not keen on sausages in most forms, but I think I can live with that. Not really the kind of answer they were looking for?!

DS is 4.9 .. he used to eat his weight in fruit and chooses cucumber / brocolli in preference to chips .. but that's just because he doesn't like potato much

DD is 18 months and really will eat anything and everything (except beetroot) .. am waiting for the worm to turn

DD1 (3 1/2) doesn't like parsnips. I have served them to her zillions of times, and she has tried them, and she will even complain if I try and hide them in a stew. And mushrooms in any shape or form.

But I'll wear her down. You'll see

Oh and DD2 (21m) has NEVER liked avacados from the very first weaning puree (where she ate every other mushed item), to any time she has picked up a piece (I like to keep on with things) put it in her mouth and out it comes.

But it's not fussy eating as I see it. Just things they don't like. They eat pretty much everything else.

my dd is very fussy, but is keen on most fruit (doesn't like melon much). Will eat peas, sweetcorn, carrrot, broccoli, cauliflower, baked beans but eats potato only under duress. Can't get her to eat meat apart from sausages and chicken (tell her it's a nugget with the crunchie bit taken off ). LOVES cheese.
Strange child.

I have thought of something now actually! Prunes! I cut some into peices for him and he opened his mouth for me to put them in for him(typical man) spat it out. Would still carry on opening his mouth for it though, at least six times over! Was just so funny to see that like a bird he'd open his mouth, the look of disgust on his face, spitting it out, opening mouth again! Bless him.

I love giving DD strawberries - she opens her mouth, eats it, and then shudders!

What a wierd and biased survey. Seems to me like they are assuming that EVERYONE has problems with their child eating. that question about have you cried argued with your partner etc about your kids diet was impossible to answer if you arent particularly worried about your kids diet.

And have to say dd doesnt like humzingers or any of those other fruit bars either tbh. give her bog standard plain fruit and shes happy.

I left that one blank, and it didn't complain at me

such a weird and biased survey: I clicked to complete it, but couldn't answer most of the questions either. Take DS (2 next month) shopping and he'll start loading the trolley with cucumber, carrots, bananas, grapes, tomatoes, avocados, etc. At a recent b-day party for one of his friends, DS was hovering around the carrotsticks and hummous, while the other kids were attacking the chocolate and crisps. Other parents were surprised. The only thing DS is not too keen on (but neither am I) is aubergine, if it's not all nice and soft.

I tried to fill it in too, but couldn't because there weren't the answers that were true..so in my opinion the results will be poor and unrepresentative..I'm sure it can't have been designed by a professional

Does having eggs count as a fruit or veg? I mean, what department do eggs fall into exactly?

Report
zippimistletoes · 02/12/2005 12:48

eggs are dairy products/animal p[roducts

Report
CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 02/12/2005 14:17

How are they dairy products? Which bit of it has milk in it?????

And don't they contain vitamin C? Therefore if I give my kids scrambled eggs, are they getting what would constitute one veg or fruit portion?

Report
edam · 02/12/2005 14:21

Eggs are animal products, not fruit or veg (what on earth would make you think they were?). Contain protein.

Report
zippimistletoes · 02/12/2005 14:23

ok they are usually classified alongside dairy products but are in fact animal products

Report
CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 02/12/2005 14:25

Because they contain vitamin C don't they?

With my three, I have found that they get fussier as time moves on.

I worry myself about what they won't eat (DS2 and 3 more than ! as AS kids are picky anyhow), but then a parent from school came and asked me how I get DS2 to eat cheery tomatoes / red peppers as a snack! I suppose you focus on the positive right? I mean, he refuses about 50% of veg and fruit, but that means he eats 50% too.
