one of the best movies i have seen in many years i cried 3 times

i had been looking forward to watching this since i first saw the trailer 5 months ago so i had built it up in my head quite a lot and was worried it wouldn't meet my expectations...

it met and exceeded them by miles - i absolutely LOVED it!!

want to see it again tomorrow... but i wont... just yet.

I haven't seen the musical though, and i haven't read the book as yet, although i have it on my kindle to read this year

Wasn't it great? I read the book before I ever heard of the musical (showing my age) and it is great. It is a big read but well worth it. He spends chapters developing characters who then disappear altogether, and does massive diversions on the Battle of Waterloo and the Paris sewers. But it is beautifully written (in translation!) and full of thought-provoking stuff.

It's lovely that in this age of special effects, 3D, etc (all of which I love), a 'simple' musical can be packing in audiences to a literary classic!

Grin there are other threads raving about it if you fancy a read of others who loved it impressions. I saw it on Saturday and am still waking up thinking about it.

Just saw it and was a bit disappointed actually. Left me flatter than I thought it would and think it is more impressive on stage.
