I've got through the first two weeks - yay!

I'm not hugely encouraged by the weight loss, so far (see below). I am very impatient!

Week 1
Starting weight: 9 stone 13 lb
After 2 FDs: 9 stone 11.6 lb

Week 2
Starting weight: 9 stone 12.5 lb
After 2 FDs: 9 stone 8lb

Week 3:
Starting weight 9 stone 11lb

Shall I persevere? My overall appetite has decreased and I really like the approach.

Thanks - I guess I just need some encouragement...

I'm two months in and my progress is as you describe, mostly because I am not being good enough on the off days but I'm viewing it as a long term thing rather than just until the weight is off.

I started at 11st 10 and am down to 11st today which I'm thrilled with as it is back to the healthy BMI for me.

I have heard that weight coming off slowly usually stays off as it indicates a lifestyle change rather than just a diet.

Lolly Most folk on 5:2 settle down to about 1lb per week loss. This is a healthy sustainable rate, which doesn't lose lean tissue or depress your metabolism.
If you are stricter on NFDs, or if you do ADF, you might lose more quickly.
However, because you are not very overweight, you will always lose more slowly than those who have several stone of fat to burn, ntbo.

However, after crash diets, the weight crashes back on and you look flabby, because you've lost a lot of muscle and your metabolism is messed up.

Weight gain didn't happen over a few weeks, so it'll take more than a few weeks to lose. Be patient, on 5:2 you can get the shape and weight you want

I've been doing the 5.2 since January and have lost 25lbs, going from 12st12lb to 11st1lb. It is definitely the easiest and most sustainable diet I have ever been on. Weight loss in the first month was around 13lb and then roughly 1-2lb per week thereafter. I still eat out at least once a week with other treats, including wine/beer at the weekend.
I am currently on my 2nd fast day this week (back to back) as I'm off to Spain on holiday tomorrow so wanted to get 2 fast days in before I go so that I don't have to worry about it. Initially my aim was 11st, but I think I can definitely get to 10st7lb (or less??) which would just about be in the healthy bmi range for my height. I am a curvy girl and would like to keep some of my curves :-))

Lollylondon- I don't know what your healthy height/weight ratio would be, but I am surmising that your starting out weight wasn't that heavy (I would love to get to your starting out weight :-) so perhaps your weight loss will be more steady and slower as you've less to lose?? Good luck though and I hope you reach your target weight x

Great progress Tid1 Well done, you.
Also good that your loss has slowed to 1-2 lb week, which is a safe sustainable rate longterm.
