Hi all, I'm off on hols to France next week for 12 days. I've been doing 5:2 for about 7 months and have gone below my target weight and am now maintaining with a BMI of 19.8 so no more to lose, but I don't want to put too much (any!) on! I exercise 5 or 6 times a week at home (shred etc) and might be able to do a bit of that whilst I'm away but don't think my DH will allow my dumbells to come with us in the car! I think I'll try and do a short run early most mornings but don't want to wake the household (we have friends coming too and both they and us have young babies!). I know all the theory, eat mainly protein and veg and if I'm eating out try to make that the only meal of the day, but any other tips and motivational ideas? There will be lots of yummy cheese, baked goods and wine! Gah!!

Hi Labracadabra

I think you've covered all the bases, there.

I should just go with the flow and bloody well enjoy your holiday!

Any holiday weight you do put on will come off pretty quickly on your return. Smile

Having been on quite a few holidays since starting to fast about 20 months ago and having had the same concerns as you, the best advice I can give to you is to just relax and enjoy it. I tend to fall into a natural 16 to 8 pattern, so if I've last eaten at 9pm I'm not usually hungry again until 1ish the following day, just skipping breakfast really and then enjoying a nice lunch. But if I decided I wanted breakfast then I'd have it. Don't put yourself under too much pressure to exercise either, it's a holiday after all so if you really don't feel like doing it then don't! The brill thing about 5 to 2 is that for some reason you just don't seem to put much weight on. My body seems to enjoy the change for a little while. Cut yourself some slack, enjoy the lovely time with your children and dh and relish the time to enjoy family meals. I had 11 nights in Portugal in June. I drank wine every night [lush] and ate what I fancied for lunch and evening meal every day. I couldn't be arsed to exercise as such but I did walk a lot along the beach. Admittedly I love salads but I also love a panini, rack of lamb, chateaubriand......you get the picture? One day I didn't eat until 6pm because I genuinely wasn't hungry. Go with what your body is telling you. I put the sum total of 2 pounds on which was off again within a week of coming home Grin enjoySmile

Thanks both. I would really like to relax and enjoy the break so I need to find a balance! Time for some mindful eating I think (unlike previous holidays!!)
