Hi folks,

I've been doing the 5:2 for the last 6/7 weeks and have been finding it great, have lost over 2 stone and feeling great, full of energy. I still have a stone or so to loose to get to my ideal weight but this week I have been loosing (on my fast days) a lb & half only for it to appear again after my nfd, what am I doing wrong? I'm a bit worried now I'm going to stay at this weight yoyoing, what should I do? I'm not over eating on my nfd I'm being quiet sensible, am thinking have I come to the end of the road with 5:2? I did do 16:8 a few years back after I had my dd2 and lost all my weight doing that, should I go back to that??

Thanks for any advice.

Frankly

Two stone in 6 or 7 weeks is very rapid weight loss - that works out at 4 or 5 pounds a week. Your body may have just reached a plateau, and don't forget your TDEE will have dropped significantly over that time too.

I would suggest that you carry on as you are, you could incorporate 16:8 on NFDs, but don't weigh yourself for a while, and no more than once a week if you can. Your weight will fluctuate daily depending on things like water retention and exercise as you build / repair muscle, and on a plateau you may find that your shape changes whilst the scales don't.

It does sound a bit like water retention. Yes, I agree megrim your shape could have changed rather than weight. Staying off the scales and using a tape measure might give a better picture. It worked for me - the tape measure told me I was smaller, and this wasn't showing on the scales.

Thanks folks, yeah I'm going to try sticking to weighing myself once a week, got a bit carried away as the lbs were dropping off like a good thing! I was a bit worried that it was coming off a bit too quickly (but great too!) will get a tape measure and keep track of that, I really feel it in clothes so my shape must be changing, will stick with it then, I know it has other benefits too so I didn't really want to give it up, but the slow down with weight loss can have such a negative impact on the old willpower!

Thanks for the advice ;-)
