Fasting / 5:2 diet

That'll teach me for being smug...

So I was all "Oh I found fasting so ENGERGISING" and "oh this is so EMPOWERING" and "this isn't a diet... it's my new Way Of Life" and "I lost 3 pounds in the first week".... blah blah blah.

Until, that is, I got to week 3, fast day 5 (this Tuesday gone) and I really struggled, ending up with blowing it in the evening, despite fasting really well all day with a sensible lunch and I've done the same today. Blush

Pissed off now.

I'm sure it's a blip, and I really did see benefits in the first two weeks, and I WILL BE STRONG next week (no point planning a fast between now and Tuesday.) But WHY did I find it harder in week 3 than week 1? Anyone else experience this?

For me it was week 4 (this week). I fasted on Monday, no problem, but today I have been bad! I had a bit of a sausage roll and a bit of chocolate today. Now I am drinking wine . oh dear. I tell myself I will be much better next week... I lost 6lb in the first 3 weeks and I really don't want to blow it now...I think I just got complacent. Onward and upward Katy!

It's taken me 3 months to really get to grips with not eating for a whole day. I think emotionally and physically it takes a lot of adjustment. And I still have the odd tough day, then I have days it's a doodle!!!!

I think it can be hormonal too!!

I've been doing this since September. I have fast days where I barely notice it, and others where I really struggle. I'm sure that there will be some correlation between hormones, how much I drank at the weekend, and the weather.

The difference now is that I don't give up on fast days, I just accept that it is hard and get on with it. I don't taste ANYTHING during the day. That way lies disaster. So even if I'm cooking for others (which I do as part of my job) I don't even lick my fingers. If I don't taste anything then I'm fine.

Week 4 for me and tried 4:3 to make up for blowout last weekend. Found today soooo difficult in fact I blew it by having about 700 calories in total today but still compared to what I normally eat that is a fast! On plus side I have lost half a stone in four weeks.
