How much water is a glass of water?

When diets say for example to have eight glasses a day, how much liquid is a glass? I had two bottles last night (handbag sized). Is that two glasses or more?

Our glasses are I think 1/2 pint.

I think a small bottle of water is 500ml, which is over half a pint?

So, for this purpose I would call each small bottle a glass.
