Implant v Depo Injection

Despite horrible reviews from friends I started thinking depo injection. Month one I had no period, month two I've had it for three weeks now. Is the implant as bad? For various reasons these are the on,y two things I'm allowed just now. Can I have some long term reviews on both pls?

I went batshit crazy on the implant and had a constant period (all be it light) for 9 months until I got it back out. My friend is on her second and loves it! Everyone is so different. As soon as the implant is out, its effect goes away unlike the depo so perhaps try it to see if you get on with the hormones?

Surely you can have the mini pill or mirena as well ?

I can have the mirena, yes, but I really don't want it. Really not keen on the implant either but the depo and it's days on end of bleeding just isn't for me :/

I get on fine with my mirena and have no periods. I had bleeding and large weight gain with the depo. I didn't want the implant as my sister didn't get on with it.

Depo sent me batshit. Made my hair thin out and I was just a nightmare to live with. Implant was fine for 6 months, I had a couple of months bleeding once a week which now seems to have settled down. I've noticed I'm shedding hair a lot more now so I'm assuming it's down to that. I'm going to have it taken out next year when I've finished travelling. It isn't something I would choose to have again. X

I'm fine with the implant. My periods are a bit haywire, nothing for a couple of months then two a week apart, but light and painless. I think it's dampened my sex drive, but I've had implants for so long I'm not sure if it's just ageing/tiredness/having responsibilities compared to when I was 25. No impact on weight, no impact on mood. With one of them my periods stopped altogether.

I didn't get on so well with the injection, although it may have been coincidental, I had depression and put on a relatively large amount of weight while I had it. It's also a pain in the backside to have to get an appointment every 3 months for another jab, with the associate hassle of booking the bloody thing and taking time off work to have it done.

The pill sent me loopy, I'd use condoms before I'd have that again.
