Copper IUD - strings feel longer and back pain?

On Saturday I had what I though was a mild urine infection (frequent utination / general discomfort) I've been drinking lots of water and the pain has gradually gone away..

Last night I was having quite bad back pain (and a bit under my ribs) on the left hand side. Woke up this morning and pain still there but eased up quite a bit. It's a dull constiant pain but manageable.

Anyway I've now just checked my IUD strings and they feel longer than normal - about 1/3 longer than normal. I've had the IUD in for about 4 years now and in wondering if my body might be trying to expel it?

make a gp/nurse appointment and they can check for you and refer you for ultrasound if necessary
