Implant if fine on Ovranette and Cerazette?

I'm currently on Cerazette while bfing DS and it has been absolutely fine. Ditto when I was on it when DD was tiny. I've also taken Ovranette long term (over ten years) with no problems.

So, looks like I get on well with hormonal contraception but I am still a bit nervous about the implant as obviously if you don't get on with it stopping is more complicated than just not taking the next pill!

Any experiences (positive or negative) from those who have had it after doing ok on other hormonal methods?

I'm watching this, the family planning nurse told me I'd be fine on the implant since Cerazette is working fine, I'm concerned about the possible weight gain from it tbh, I'm thinking of cancelling the appointment to have it fitted and carry on with Cerazette.

cerazette is desogestrel, implant is etonogestrel.

According to wiki, Etonogestrel is the active metabolite of the inactive prodrug desogestrel, so I think that means tha tit is, in effect, the same drug, once you have metabolised it.

Hope this helps.

It is the same drug. Before you are put on the implant, the doctor should, but doesn't always, give you a months supply of cerazette to see if it will suit you Grin
