What's you experience of not being able to feel threads ?

I can't feel the Mirena threads.

I had it fitted about 3 weeks ago but now I can't feel the threads. If this has happened to you did you go to doctor straight away or, this might sound daft, could you feel them again another time you checked ?

never could feel them, still can't!

presume it's still working as periods are still light and I'm not pregnant!

I can't feel mine very often, I have a high cervix.

Are you booked in for a fit check? My GP did mine 6 weeks after I had mine fitted.

Also can you maybe get DH to check? Not so romantic but he's probably going to have longer fingers and can get at an angle you can't.

mine disappeared too.
my gp arranged an ultrasound and it's in the right place but my uterus seems to have eaten the strings. not pregnant though so it's obviously working fineGrin

Thank you all.

I have got 6 week check in a couple of weeks, so didn't know whether to wait or go see the doctor.

I'm not pregnant, af started as normal and was here for 2 weeks, now it's on & off but presume that's just the way until everything settles down.

I could feel the threads but felt different lengths both times !?! Now I can't feel them at all. I do have a dull ache to one side of tum but probably just af pain.

my strings went awol too and I had an ultrasound and xray that couldnt find the coil and had another trans-vaginal scan (the probe inserted into the vagina) on another date that managed to locate it in the correct position. I had to take extra precautions until the coil was seen to be in the correct position.

There is no harm it getting it checked out as there is a higher chance of expulsion in the first few weeks.

This is also bothering me. I had mine fitted couple of months ago, checked for strings before 6 wk check and could only find very ends - almost felt like 'stubble'. The nurse couldn't see/feel them at all and asked me to go back in a month. Since them I have been checking a lot and can sometimes feel a little bit more of the threads - maybe 0.5cm, but never a lot. Chose the Mirena has a hassle-free option - will be really unimpressed if I have to start going for scans/ further investigations. Surely if I can feel the strings, even if very short, it's there doing its job and will be accessible for removal when time comes - nurse said she didn't want to 'dig around' too much at check-up but could be much more determined if she was trying to get it out?!
