Moring after pill and side effects

We had a split condom two weeks ago - when I was ovulating - and I took the morning after pill 10 hours after the "event". The following week I got really heavy bleeding, as if it was a very heavy period, and although it's much lighter now, it still hasn't stopped. So I have had bleeding for the last 10 days. Is this normal?

I took the MAP many moons ago and all I got was a raging headache. I am freaking out. I took a pregnancy test and it's negative but I think I'll test again. I feel absolutely knackered and have back pain and the odd stabby pain in my side.

I'm a 32 year old, why do I feel like a teenager who's done something wrong?

Any advice Mumsnetters, are these side effects normal?

Its a hefty dose of hormones, so it will disrupt your cycle somewhat. It's unlikely that you're pregnant with all the bleeding though. Most immediate side effects are nausea and vomiting. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Thanks DystopianReality,

I'm so freaked out by all of the bleeding. It's kicked off heavily again today and I can't get a doctors appointment until next week. Surely ten days is a long time.

When I was pregnant with DS I knew I was pregnant because I was so sick. I definitely don't think I'm pregnant. I just wish this endless period would end and I could move on. The cramps are exhausting.

I am never taking the morning after pill again.

Tell the sodding receptionist that its an emergency and 10 days isn't good enough!

Oh Suzy you have no idea...

I pleaded for an appointment but they won't have one until Monday afternoon. And then she said that if I cancelled the appointment because the bleeding had stopped I would still be charged 65 euros for the cancelled appointment as I wouldn't be able to give 24 hours notice due to the office being closed over the weekend.

I was not happy. All I want is answers and all they want is to charge me for them.

Oh that's awful, I'm so sorry. Are you feeling any better now?

I'm feeling a bit better thanks. I'm just cheesed off and wondering if I'm at risk of becoming anaemic Smile.
