DD1 is 7 and is going to her first camp for a weekend at the end of the month. She needs a sleeping bag but theres so many different types. I don't know which one to get or which one the other kids use.

Any ideas/recommendations?

Get a three seasons. Any brand as long as it's three-season spec.

Do you think envelope or mummy style. I think envelope would be more practical?

My children have only ever used mummy style sleeping bags. Three season is fine for most general purposes in the British Isles. Down is warmer and packs smaller, but is expensive.

If it's indoors, three season may feel too warm for her. HOWEVER, it's well worth buying one now if there's any chance that she will continue going to camp as she gets older. (Speaking as parent of a Scout who now goes camping January - in tents - and still manages to keep warm at night, unlike some of her friends who have sleeping bags designed for the occasional sleepover and not for British weather!)

Make sure it's got a full length zip that she can do up and undo, so she can control her temperature if it does feel too warm.
