It would entail a whole world of bureaucratic pain.

If they haven't already, ensure that all parents are on Direct Debit as it's a nightmare otherwise and make sure you get a grip of the Pack leaders. They're the worse when it comes to receipts, etc.

Are you sure it's just pack, most finances are held at Group level (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, etc.)?

I have been a treasurer for brownies, which is run differently to scouts. As pp said, scouting finances tend to be run as a group, where guiding tend to run each section individually. But, in theory I think both are similar. I imagine, keeping records, paying in money to bank, reimbursing leaders, paying bills. It could be a bit more complicated if the group has a building as part of your job may involve sorting out the running costs of a building. Are you a parent at the group? I found it quite interesting to know where all the money goes.

I'm secretary for our scout group. The treasurer counts and deposits the money from fundraising. Does the accounts for the group. We give each section a yearly budget and they do their own accounts to show how its spent. They provide an annual report too. They also collect in the subs twice a year.
