BUDDING WRITER!

My ds1 has always loved reading and over the years his teachers have mentioned that he has a particular flair for writing. He's 13 now and at his recent parents evening his English teacher mentioned how wonderful his latest short story was. She said she absolutely loved it and would love him to think about writing more short stories with a view to getting them published. How would we go about doing this? TIA
