A cabinet member asked him if he voted Remain and he refused to answer. If this is true, he needs to step down. He is not principled, he is a liar.

If he were a liar, he'd say what was expedient at the time, surely? My own MP refuses to say which way they voted, and so far most people have retreated when told it's not their business.

Isn't voting confidential? I don't even ask my husband how he votes. I mean, I think I know, because we have similar views but I have never asked 'so how did you vote?'. I'm quite happy to share my political views if anyone wants to discuss politics but I would never answer if someone asked me outright how I voted.

Now, obviously I'm not the leader of a political party, but what I was trying to say is that I don't think the right to confidentiality should disappear just because you are in politics.

I have suspected that JC wanted us to leave. I'd forgotten politicians could vote but I guess he probably did. I don't think he should step down for this reason though. He should step down because he isn't a very good leader, his MPs are resigning left, right and centre including the amazing Jess Phillips.

JC was and is clearly a euro-sceptic. That is why he lost his Labour voters though - campaigning for Remain, but everyone deep down knew he didn't believe in the EU No wonder they were confused

Oh FGS Jeremy. He really doesn't have much of a grasp of political behaviour does he? Yes it's rude to ask but in his situation it's to be expected – if he was going to secretly vote leave he could at least have practiced saying "Yes of course I voted remain!" in the mirror

Yes that would be lying but if he's been pretending to be on the Remain side he was lying anyway. I'm not saying it's good that politicians lie but I do find it weird how he behaves - principles a-go-go meaning he has to cause offence left right and centre, then nothing much to say when pressed.

Jesus, I'm not a fan of JC particularly but he is being destroyed by his party.

He put on Twitter that he voted leave. He was being asked how he voted by one of his is cabinet members - presumably in an antagonistic way - and now there's an article that he didn't answer.

What are Labour playing at? Why are they not being a strong, ynited opposition instead of a load of self-serving, cannibalistic headless chickens.

The fact that nineteen members of the shadow cabinet have now resigned is reason enough to think he should step down.

Voting, whoever you are, is a private matter. Even if you are representing the other side and do so he is still entitled to vote however he wants and is not obliged to divulge what he voted for.

Actually to clarify, I do think principles are important and I had high hopes for Corbyn to start with – but an awareness of your audience and having the ability to make resounding statements is also important if you're leader of the opposition. You can be principled and rhetorical. Cameron and Osborne - and even more so fecking BoJo and Gove - are an absolute gift for a leader of the opposition to stand up and skewer them with some well chosen words. They don't have to be untrue words - just well put together and rousing.

In this case, I think if Corbyn is secretly anti-EU then he needs to grasp that he should either come out and do what he believes in, or keep it secret and go with the facade. It's the mealy mouthed inability to just be a public figure, pick a stance and have something to say that is doing my head in.

Of course I would rather have a passionate, principled AND vocal labour leader. Jo Cox was that kind of person, it is possible.

Well if political behaviour is going back on the majority of promises made to get votes, giving false information, targeting the vulnerable of society and causing class divides I am really glad he doesn't have a grasp.

I am getting fed up of all the comments regarding his appearance, just because he doesn't buy his suits from Saville Row does not make him any less of effective party leader.

Those who have been sacked and jumped ship have been baying for his blood and have been since he was elected by a very large majority. It is them that need to think about whether they actually have the same ideals as the Labour membership.

IMHO I would much prefer a leader with a heart rather than a swinging brick.

Yes, but rhetoric and a public presence do matter. They don't mean you have to be a cynical empty-hearted schemer. He (or someone) could have principles and be able to stand up and speak about them eloquently and meaningfully.

I have no beef with how he dresses and i didn't even mention that. It's not about that, but it is about being a figurehead and having something to say loud and proud.

FTR he stated on the Last Leg that whilst he was no fan of the EU, he was on team remain.
