Solar PV panels

I am very keen to get solar PV panels on my roof. Paid for, not rent-a-roof.

I'd dearly love some recommendations of installers in SE England (nr Portsmouth/Winchester area).

I have had 2 quotes, 1 looks ok but the other seemed like a total cowboy...high pressure selling etc. I sent him on his way and he was very rude.

Anyone used a really good company?

I used SMC solar. They're a franchise and my rep was very good. No hard sell at all.

Definitely avoid the hard-sell types. Give them an hour of your time to measure your roof & chat to you about options, then kick them out & read their quote carefully when it arrives in the post.

Thanks that's really helpful.

One man turned up and refused to talk to me because DH teasing with me. Said he had to speak to both homeowners or I wouldn't get the subsidy. Total bollocks and I told him so. He said I wasted his time and would I like to explain to his daughter why he wasn't home to play with her?

The next day his company rang to re book for when "Mr ComeHeather" is available too. After I'd put them straight on their rubbish, sexist, high pressure crap they decided not to "pursue us as customers".

Gosh, well, I was disappointed I can tell you!

ooh, game I love to play is to leave DH chatting to the Facia-board/solar PV/DG windows salesman. DH is a bit easily led & his cheerful politeness comes across as a bit gormless. I bumble around the room almost wordlessly house cleaning like an uninterested wifey. Then at 55 minutes I sharply interrupt to tell them to wrap up & send us his quote in the post. Bit of fish-like gasping as it dawns on the salesman that he's been talking to the wrong home-owner all along.

alardi

I am likin' yo style sister.

That's a very tempting game to play....

My DH could do cheerful and dim very well (he's super bright but feigns stupidity to avoid being asked things as he is also super-shy).
