I am desperately trying to get back to work at the weekeend so dh is childcare, i applied for a job in the library. I applied a day late as my application form (addressed wrongly) arrived late so i had to do it online instead.

Should I phone the council and ask if i got an interview, as form didnt get to me on time intervoiew letter may have gone astray. Or is that too desperate?

Normally with council jobs, they send out an acknowledgement postcard when your application is received (or email maybe - been a long time since I worked for the council). They normally state in job advert if you don't hear within 28 days of the closing date for applications, you haven't got the job. No harm in chasing it up though, I don't think you'll seem desperate - just keen.

The was a line 'if you havent heard in 3 weeks' then you werent good enough in job application pack, three weeks from deadline is fri, but interviews are next week so if i was lucky i would like a little time to prepare childcare etc.

Because of the error in them sending it, I'd chase it up, tbh.

Deff chase up - our local council have outsourced HR to the most rubbish company ever - they are beoming rapidly well known for loosing applications, misinforming interviewers and interviewees about times etc; can also take a long time before forms etc are passed on.
