SMP -advise please

In the information i can find it says its based on your wages before stoppages, but does this include my pension contributions ?
Im a bit worried as im very close to the lower earnings limit but if it means wages before they take out my contribution then i can relax a bit.

i would assume it's before pension contributions, but am certainly no expert

It's based on your gross salary before deductions.
