My DH is about to open a business account but it seems like a bit of a minefield.... he's just started a LTD company where he is the only director and there are no plans to expand at this stage.
He won't be dealing in cash, mains cheques and BACS payments.
Any recommendations? Thanks

Abbey have been v good for me (I'm self employed, but works the same for ltd companies). Free banking, and it really IS free. Unilke LloydsTSB which I started out with, who over the years (before Abbey) I paid a small fortune to in charges etc. Would definitely recommend Abbey.

Alliance and leicester are my preferred choice so I can use the post office as well as the bank

I use Cater Allen (a private bank) they are very good indeed. I bank for free with them and their service is excellent. However I got a deal through my accountants, not sure how much it costs if you go direct

They have closed down almost every post office near me here....! I do all my business banking online, and post my cheques in directly (they even provide pre-paid, pre- addressed envelopes for paying in...). When I needed to open a new Client account recently, I dealt with someone on the phone, and then met her at my local branch to finalise paperwork, check id etc. Very helpful and efficient.

I'm with Abbey. Seemed to take forever to get the account open, but so far so good. Hasn't been long though.

If he joins the federation of small businesses he can get FREE banking with the Co-Op bank.(and a load of other benefits too)
