Asked for two references - is it two professional or one professional one personal?

Two professional. When recruiting I wouldn't even bother speaking to a personal reference for most jobs, I would want to know about someone's work performance not how lovely they are according to what could easily be their best mate.



So yes, 2 professional if you have them

HR depts luuurve being harassed!

I returned to the thread to add that if I asked someone to provide two references and they only gave one of them as professional I would be suspiciously thinking why have they not got two professional, (assuming their cv indicated that they ought to have).

But then I am a deeply mistrusting HR person
