staff code

Does the staff code form part of your contract? For example, it says one thing in my contract and a different thing in the staff code about requesting holiday.

Is the staff code comment about requesting holiday valid over my contract comment?

What is the difference between what they are saying?

Contract says 'It is important to seek approval for holiday as soon as possible'

Staff code is much more specific and says that you have to ask your line manager with at least two days in advance.

I believe staff codes are updated all the time and wondered whether they can just add amendments to your contract via that method.

In this senario if the staff code document is made refernce to in your conrtact what they have done would be legal and seen as reasonable re taking annual leave. Above is a useful website. They should inform you when a change is made however i.e staff newsletter or team meeting and they could not expect you to give 2 days notice for dependants leave which is for emergencies. Major changes to your contract could not be done this way.

Hope this helps.
