2nd interview today..and DD not very well !!

...I really feel that my loyalty is being tested today. i have a 2 nd interview today for a full time job, which offers a very good all round package. It's not what I was earning before DC arrived, but a good starting point for going back into full time work. Here's my dilemma.

I already work part time as a sports coach and running my own businesses all of which I love but simply this job provides a good salary package and is an interesting product which I know that I'll be motivated by.

yesterday, during one of my sports coaching sessions I received a call from DD's school saying that she was poorly, really unlike her. I went to cllect her (I work at her school ) and she really looked awful, has a high temperature. tooke her home, she puked up then has been complaining of a bad headache throughout the night....We've both had a really bad night's sleep (great !!) and she's also complaining about the "light being too bright" have calpol'd her, temp has come down ...and there is absolutely NO rash....Dh has taken the day off of work to look after DD...but i feel guilty about leaving her. I have already had to change one interview date (car broke down on the way to initital 2nd interview in manchester !!) so absolutely can't change this one. the people that I'm being interviewed by are young career people (early 30's where career is everything IFKWIM) so they would have no understanding if I phoned to re arrange...in fact that would be the end of the opportunity.

So summary here

last chance at 2nd stage interview (there are other people in the running)
DH has offered to look after DD
Might not get the job anyway
I'm feeling guilty

appreciate your inputs

Due to leave at 8am for 10am interview...have 2 hr drive !!

DH can look after her perfectly well so get off to the interview and sell yourself!

Unfortunately, if you get the job, this will be the kind of dilemma you often face, as most working mums dread the kids being sick. You are lucky that your dh is prepared to take time off - not many of the mums I know have a dh like that.

Go for it - good luck!

From the "easy" position of it not being my DD, I'd say that as long as someone suitable (and you've said DH is available) is there for DD, then go. I know you might not get the job, but you might, and might you always wonder if you didn't get the chance?

But obviously it's a personal choice... Good luck either way. Just one thing has occurred to me - if it's a 2 hr drive to interview, will that mean a 2 hr drive to work each day??

Go!

Your dh can watch dd, he is her parent too so don't feel guilty either!

Good luck! fingers crossed for you X

thanks ladies...DD is fine this afternoon - I've had a really busy day as left for the interview at 7.45 this morning, did my "pitch" then drove back and across to work for a sports coaching fixure this afternoon !!!

Anyway, DD is absolutely fine this afternoon, a bit sleepy at lunchtime (no suprise really !!) but fine this evening......had a great afternoon at athletics fixture with some of my girls team setting some great pb's (personal bests)...then on the way home I received a call....to say that they want to offer me the job !!!!!!!!! AAAAARGH

...so now in a bit of a daze, thinking about all the things that working mums have to worry about like child care during holidays etc etc...but also really excited about the new opportunity too. the good news is that I can juggle it with the coaching as. once summer term finishes I'm not doing anything until january...so I can give the job a really good go, find my feet then, if I decide it's NOT for me then still ahve the sports coaching to look forward to.

hae a secret feeling that once I get back into it, I'll love it, as it's very much what I was doing before DC came along 6 years ago......... thanks again for your inputs, off to have a celbration glass of wine !!
