Flexible working meeting. Could do with some help with wording if possible please

I work part time hours five days a week, this is perfect for school pick up and school holidays are covered by holiday clubs or shared by my husband or myself having a holiday day.

The role I do can only be done by me and no part of my duties could be reorganised amongst existing staff.

A year after I started on my part time hours the roles work load increased so i asked for access to my work emails on my iPad at home and would spend a couple of hours in the evening replying to emails, organising other things etc, no problem because I like to keep on top of things and I appreciate the opportunity to do a job I love with such child care friendly hours. These hours were unpaid.

Last year I was asked to take on more work, which I agreed to because it was a step up and I felt really pleased that they thought I was able to carry out these new tasks. I asked for a company laptop and token to be able to access all systems from home which has made everything a lot quicker and easier but upped my unpaid hours working from home because I really could get a lot more done in the evening on my own.

I have kept a diary of my extra unpaid hours and I'm now working full time hours, had another meeting six months ago with a new manager who insisted that I need to claim the hours as overtime, which I did. This means they have been paying me my part time salary plus the extra hours in overtime.

It has now been recognised that my part time role has developed into a full time role and I've been asked to attend a meeting with HR and a senior manager

Can I just clarify, you want to keep things as they are but have the hours you are currently claiming as overtime become part of your contract?

I think the fact that you have already been doing this makes things easier.

The 8 factors: I can't see why any of them would apply, as a) quite a few are about reducing hours and b) your already doing it!

Might it be worth outlining the hours you actually plan to work - so e.g. 6am-7am, 9.30-3, 8-9.30 if they are likely to be consistent? A 45 hr week seems quite long? Mine is 38.
Could you commit to one or two full days in the office? Or maybe breakfast club for the kids to give you more time in the office rather than home working without the full childcare costs? I'm not suggesting that you propose these to them, but just think through the implications before you go in incase they have a different proposal to the full time in office your fearing.

It's not a flexible working request then, it's a request to put your pre-existing already-established working hours, pay and other working arrangements into a contract.

A flexible working request is made to reduce hours or otherwise vary working arrangements (usually for the purposes of looking after a child or family member). You're not asking to vary your current terms, only to put them in writing and stop having to put in overtime forms.

That is a very good point, and will be going into my business plan for them.

add I do have the opportunity to use breakfast club at a cost of £3k a yr and can use childcare vouchers but I don't want to commit if I can continue as I am and use the option when I see it as needed.

It helps to read replies not thinking I am wanting the world on my plate. I was happy just ticking along up till now.

I hope they are able to take a common sense approach but I guess they will be considering the issue of setting a precendent.

On a related note, I use Paymo to track my time (I am a freelancer) it is free and it has an app version too if you needed to record time.
